Aims

After a first year in the Marie Curie scientific portal, the last two years of the Science for Engineering degree will enable future graduates to complete the various courses:

IM course: analyse and validate the mechanical solutions adopted in the design of a multi-technology system, in conjunction with materials and automation specialists
EEA course: design automated control, information processing and electrical energy conversion systems in a multi-technology approach
SITeR course: analyse and understand the choices required to design solutions based on the digital sciences in the fields of signal processing, image processing and networks and telecommunications
ISM course: analyse and understand the physical measurement and instrumentation solutions used in the design of multi-technology systems, particularly in the fields of electronics, automation and electrical engineering
Plurisciences course: to awaken and educate a school or extracurricular public in science by transmitting multidisciplinary knowledge in a rigorous and pedagogical manner

Targeted students

Baccalaureate holders with Maths and Physics/Chemistry or Maths and SI specialities / STI2D baccalaureate holders with a very good level in maths and physics
Students from other bachelor's degrees, CPGE, IUT or BTS: admission after study of an application file

Admission conditions

Admission to L1: through the Parcoursup system or Études en France
Admission in L2: after obtaining an L1 Marie Curie portal.
Admission during the course of the programme (L2-L3): application file for the opinion of the Pedagogical Commission.

Structure and organisation

The first year is done within the Marie Curie portal. The first three semesters of the SPI licence are completely common to the different courses. In the 4th semester, a choice of options (12 options) allows the student to start on one of the four courses offered in the 3rd year. The proposed courses are:

Signals, Images, Telecoms and Networks (SITeR)
Electronics, Electrotechnics and Automation (EEA)
Instrumentation and Measurement Sciences (ISM),
Mechanical engineering (IM).

Knowledge to be acquired

A multidisciplinary course in Engineering Sciences, the SPI degree provides a solid scientific foundation in the fields of applied sciences such as electronics, instrumentation, materials, energy, electrical engineering, automation and mechanical engineering.

At the same time, the training allows students to acquire knowledge in the fundamental scientific disciplines of mathematics, physics and computer science as well as basic knowledge in chemistry.

The scientific training offered is accompanied by cross-disciplinary teaching which serves to develop the professional and study project of each student.

Professional skills to be acquired

Our future SPI graduates will be able to :

Understand the functioning of multi-technological systems and analyse the part corresponding to their field of specialisation by drawing on their knowledge of basic sciences and engineering sciences
Develop a systematic and rigorous scientific approach enabling them to implement an appropriate solution in response to a problem linked to a multi-technological system
Present or write, in a structured, synthetic, clear and rigorous way, a critical argument based on a scientific document or a technical documentation, in French or in English at the intermediate level
Develop and implement an individual or group project related to the engineering sciences, using project management methodologies that encourage the restitution and sharing of the results produced

Internships and supervised projects

In L3, all courses contain at least one compulsory module in the form of a tutored project or internship.

In addition to the internships provided for in the curricula, all students can carry out complementary internships with bonus points during periods of interruption of teaching.

Seeked careers

At the end of the SPI Licence, several choices are possible: either further studies to reach executive positions in engineering, R&D, project management, technical sales, production, control & quality... Or direct entry into working life to reach positions such as senior technician, assistant engineer... In both cases, the sectors of activity are varied:

Industrial equipment (electromechanical, hydraulic, etc.)
Mechanics - Construction
Energy production and transport (including renewable energy)
Process control (automatic, electronic, mechanical)
Transport industry (automotive, aeronautics, rail, etc.)
Telecommunications - Signal processing

At the undergraduate level, various actions are implemented so that students begin to understand the activities of research laboratories: seminars with teacher-researchers, tutored projects in L3 (bibliographic research and/or laboratory work with the provision of technological platforms), and internships. In addition, all students have the possibility, at their own initiative, to carry out optional internships in AMU research laboratories at any time during their training. The AMU Faculty of Sciences has 15 research structures that are likely to welcome SPI students.

The degree also participates in the Incubator of Young Scientists programme set up by the Faculty of Science, which allows the financing of a student with an average of more than 16 years of study in a research laboratory, starting in L1.

Mobility abroad is therefore a life experience that goes beyond the strict academic framework and enables students not only to improve their command of a foreign language but also to acquire genuine intercultural skills. The Faculty's objective is to develop international agreements specific to each course. Our students are therefore strongly encouraged to go abroad via exchange programmes.
