Introduction to radioastronomy and astroparticle experiments with instruments at OHP, OMP, and underwater laboratory: 1) Fundamentals of radioastronomy; signal processing, receivers, back-ends, antennas. 2) Fundamentals of astroparticles; cosmic rays, neutrinos; instruments.
Choice between two projects: (project 1) remote observations and data analysis of 21-cm signal with GRAD-300 radiotelescope at OHP, and possible optical follow-up with IRiS ; (project 2) remote observations and data analysis of cosmic rays and neutrinos with ePERON and LSPM, development of muons detector.

Compétences à acquérir

Know and understand the basic concepts of radioastronomy. Being able to identify appropriate 21-cm radiosources, to remotely operate with the GRAD-300 radiotelescope and conduct imaging and spectroscopy observations, to analyse and understand the data with dedicated software, and to operate follow-up observations with IRiS.
Alternatively: Know and understand the basic concepts of radioastronomy and astroparticle (neutrinos and muons) detection techniques. Being able to operate measurements with ePERON/LSPM, analyse and understand the data with dedicated software, manage the instrumentations for deployment of similar detectors at OHP.

Modalités d'organisation

La méthode pédagogique utilisée est basée deux cours introductifs (5h+5h) suivi d'un projet (15h). Chaque cours est basé sur une séance d'introduction à la question physique (2h) et une séance dédiée à l'instrumentation associée au projet (3h). Les projets seront ménés par binomes ou trinomes d'étudiants, qui choisirons quel projet réaliser (astronomie ou particules) ; en cas de conflit ou mauvaise repartition, les enseignants attribueront le projet de manière incontestable. Les observations et acquisitions seront ménées depuis les salles de contrôle TRIPS au LAM (projet 1) ou à Luminy (projet 2). La présence et participation active des étudiant.e.s au déroulé des cours et du projet est indispensable. Pour étouffer leurs connaissances et s'initier à une démarche scientifique professionnelles, les étudiant.e.s travailleront en autonomie sur des possibles développements instrumentaux de leur projet, selon les indications des enseignants. L'analyse des données prévoit l'utilisation de logiciels professionnels couramment utilisés ou petite programmation (le choix du langage de programmation est laissé à l'étudiant).
