Langue 6.3 HEA6U04 : English phonetics: orality, self-correction & connected speech
Enseignants : Mme Laetitia LEONARDUZZI & M. Gabor TURCSAN
This course is concerned with English phonetics & phonology, offering two approaches for the study of English pronunciation.
The first part of the course deals with the systemic differences between French and English, both at the level of phonemes and of prosody. The students will then be able to analyse learners' productions as well as to improve their own production.
The second part of the course gives an overview of various connected speech phenomena by analysing utterances, both natural and constructed. We hope that the study of these phenomena helps to improve naturalness and fluency in oral English and understanding in comprehension.
